learning to love again

Seeing as I'm the only one doing elderly people's work this year, I've been asked to update the blog myself. I went back in to Florence Grogner a while ago and there was a huge group of elderly people with us for the service. There was one man with us that they'd been trying to get to join us since they started to visit and numbers are definitely growing.

The people there are lovely and its really great to get to know them. We spend time talking to them after the service is over and they're really friendly and willing to open up to us. On my very first week, I was told the life stories of quite a few of the elderly people without me even asking them any questions!

I'm not the world's most naturally patient person and sometimes I find the elderly quite exasperating, especially when they forget to turn their hearing aids on. But God seems to really be teaching me patience with this group. I'm not getting frustrated or annoyed with them when they cant hear me or when they tell me the same story twenty times. I still need more patience, but I'm learning a lot.

Going to see them is great fun and completely different from any other work I do on the light project. It's so worthwhile and I'm learning a lot.
